I need to sort my cuticles out. Also, my patience. I smudged the middle finger within 60 seconds. 

Enough of that. So tacky it turns glamorous. MY BARGAIN FIVE POUND WATCH.

I'll open a book shortly on how long it takes to make my arm look vaguely gangrenous.

So you're thinking a bit of animal skin, possibly a spot of faux fur. No I teamed a paisleyish top with some jeans and fake uggs.

Even though it looks like Christmas it isn't. The big thaw is happening right now and the winter wonderland scenery is dissolving into a big black mush. My bare nails are lamenting the days of the red, gold and green glitter polishes, but they're just too festive right?

I had the chance to try out a premium nail polish from the James Bond special edition. I decided to try the gold shatter top coat. The internet raves about these polishes so it was about time I gave them a try.

It is a beautiful orange red colour and the varnish is thick and luxurious. I was impressed with how well the brush applied the polish.

However, I was not so impressed with the gold shatter top coat.











As you can see in the picture on the right, the varnish was too thick to crackle effectively. It looked nothing like it was supposed to look, just a thick glittery coating with a tiny weak spine running its course just left of centre.

I'm glad I had only borrowed it. I have previously tried Boots 17 crackle top coat and it had a much better effect.

The thing is, I'm far to addicted to a little finger tip sparkle, even if it isn't the party season anymore.

#NOTD As festive as I'm going to get. Barry M Magnetic Nail Polish

What could be more festive than nail polish the colour of a glittering Christmas Tree? I'm not very good at detail so on my quest for ultimate nail art nirvana I am testing out magnetic nail polishes.

 I think it is a fairly festive colour. (I really am not one for precision and detail, I have neither the time or the patience).

ALWAYS USE A BASE.

I had a nightmare once with green nail varnish. It stained my nails and made me look as if I was moldy. The horrors of getting it off will scar me for life.

I always opt for Nails Inc Hyde Park Base Coat. £12. (Buy it here).

The next step is to layer a thick coat of the varnish and allow it to dry completely.

If you don't let it dry properly then air bubbles start to form and the effect won't work properly. 

Then coat the nail with another thick layer of varnish. IMMEDIATELY hold the magnet over the polish for at least 10 seconds. The lid has a nifty little groove to place your finger in, but be careful not to press to hard as the polish smudges all over the lid. Yes, I am that clumsy.

I have left this photo unfiltered to see how evergreen the colour actually is.I am impressed with the polish, it is fairly thick and dries quickly so I didn't have to wait for too long. 

Set the pattern with a layer of your favourite topcoat and the end result is very effective, I am tempted to get the other colours to mix and match the magnetic pattern, but first I shall wow a lot at the thriftiness of this boutique effect.

How festive are your nails?

#NOTD Get the Manchester look.

I get that London is in the name of the cosmetics company I am getting at; yes, it is Rimmel London. I think the adverts convey a British look and feel to their marketing. I guess everyone is on the London 2012 bandwagon and playing up to the consumer, but why not just pick any city in our lovely isles. I'm choosing ~Manchester as it is where my beloved Morrissey is from.

We could speculate for days as to whether he is sporting a touch of guyliner here, but let me get on with my NOTD post.

I have had my eyes on the Precious Stones collection by Rimmel London. Disappointed as I was to find only a three different shades I opted for Ruby Crush. It lays claim to have high coverage; I usually use a base colour the glitter on top as I find them to be just too darn fine and they need a good few coats to get a full glitter effect. 

 This is not the case with Rimmel's Precious Stone range. NO WAY!

As you can see in the picutre it is not a runny polish. It has the consistency of glitter glue, that way it doesn't streak and run like other polishes.    

The fist coat gave high coverage indeed with the added blessing f a quick drying time.

I was glitterbombed by a Lego artist! This photo was taken after only one coat.

The colour set quickly on my nails, so I wasted no time in getting the second coat over and done with.

 It proved quite an effective look without the high-end price tag. It could certainly be described as festive or seasonal, but it is not Christmas yet (I'm not ready).

I'll let you into a little secret of mine. I had my nails done once at the beauty college. The girl used Nail Life Demon Speed Polish Dryer; I have never looked back.

Sadly, I can only find an american link to buy it. I know that you can go into a Sally's beauty shop; a merchant retailer and buy it just like I did.

The one and only wonder product makes the manicure last so much longer and minimises the drying time to next to nothing. I have also never come across a topcoat so chip proof.

 Glitter bombed!
